The previous owner of this knife was deployed to Vietnam in 1969, and purchased it at that time from a fellow helicopter pilot who was leaving the country. He carried it during his deployment in 1969 and 1970 while flying helicopters for the 101st Airborne Division. After returning home, he had Randall Knives remove the original owner's name etching, and add his to the blade. He also carried a Randall Knife while deployed for training during Exercise Bright Star in Egypt in the 1980's.
