Moran, Bill
Bill Moran was from Frederick MD and made his first knife in the late 1930's. He was well known for his forged carbon steel blades and famously reintroduced the art of making Damascus steel in the 1970's. In addition to all of his artistic accomplishments, Bill was a founding member of the American Bladesmith Society, a President of the Knifemaker's Guild, a Blade Magazine Hall of Fame Member, and had a bladesmithing school named in his honor, the "William F. Moran School of Bladesmithing". Bill passed away in 2006.
